It’s Thanksgiving morning and I just woke from a long-ish winter’s nap (five or so hours?) and I’m sitting here next to a snoring Wonderpup and we are all wrapped up in our toastys because it’s actually cold this morning (I love it when cold holidays actually are – never a sure thing in Alabama, I can recall MANY a 75 degree Christmas) and my electric kettle is warming for some tea.
Of course, it’s important to remember to be grateful everyday, but, with Thanksgiving, I wanted to take a bit to do a love list of some of the people and things I’m giving thanks for this year. ❤
First, I want to say how thankful I am for this space and for all of you who come and read my posts. I know it helps me to write and I hope that my words are of service.
For all of the hard that came my way this year, I could have never gotten through without my people.
I am so incredibly blessed to do life with my people.
I’m also so thankful for another year alcohol free. So much gratitude.
And I am so so thankful that I have been able to get my Janis back!!! Yes!!! Unfortunately, nothing is mended or better – but my Beetle clutch is light and I am a determined woman and I have now discovered that driving her doesn’t hurt anymore than anything else I do now that the inflammation part of my breaks is as good as it’s going to get. So we are back together again! Hallelujah! And all God’s people said, “Amen!”
Despite the fact that I don’t enjoy taking a million meds a day, I am incredibly thankful to have all of my medications and patches and therapies that I need. So so many people don’t.
I am so thankful for Christmas too. We’ve been in the spirit for several weeks and I just love, love, love it!!! My soul needs it this year especially.
This year I’m giving huge thanks for having graduated from nutrition school. It was a dream of mine for a long time and I’m grateful to have finally been able to do it (and thank you, Mom!).
And, because of that, I’m super excited to be working on my wellness practice. I feel like this is a gift to be able to do this even though I am often in my bed. It’s just a total God thing.
And, despite my illness, there were so many wonderful things I was able to do with my loved ones this past year and I am just incredibly grateful.
I am so so thankful for a wonderful year. So many good things.
Honestly, most days don’t look like that though. Most days look like this:
Like, 97% of my days look like this. I’m not complaining. I have things to work on and my family and my Wonderpup and books and my husband has made the Hippie Hut so so cozy. I can’t thank him enough for all the work he’s done to make my bedroom super comfy for me too.
Since I’m usually in what I call my Sheldon Cooper spot on the bed, I especially grateful that my dreams of writing have started to come to true.
And, finally, in the grand scheme of things, it’s a small thing, but it’s a big one to me.
After having to let go of my hair last September, I’m grateful for fur.
I realize this is a long post – but, honestly, after so many posts this year about all of the really difficult health challenges – and there are many – I wanted to just focus on all the blessings today.
Despite the RA and the broken bones and the pain, I have so much love and so much joy and I am truly blessed.
