changing my word.

As I wrote in my previous post, I got REALLY sick earlier this month and will be on IV therapy for the next several weeks as I continue to heal.

I went septic – which I’m still shaken over – and, earlier this evening, I saw this article, which hasn’t helped my feelings:

https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/news/scottish-news/sepsis-now-bigger-killer-cancer-21295621?fbclid=IwAR2bej6E8qMtiMmngnfNLawPXfQaSBiQjp9ac_v7lEL_j_CTpGNd9I0qFaI

Apparently, sepsis is now responsible for one in five deaths worldwide – one every three seconds. I knew I was in a serious situation when my cultures came back, having been a nurse for so long – but I am thankful that I hadn’t read this at that time still.

There is nothing like a life-threating illness to call your priorities even more into focus though and this certainly has. While I was already committed to focusing more on time with my family this year, this really has changed my perspective on things.

Where I started off this year choosing “joy” as my word – and that is so important to me – my word this year is love.

Loving my people BIG and seeing them as often as I can. Loving God and getting back to church as soon as I’m able. Loving myself too – to get as healthy as is possible for me and working on my goals for the year.

Lots of love.

Be well, everybody. Take care of yourselves and each other.

Grace and blessings.
