blogmas day 6 – remembering the pirate.

Tuesday, December 12th, marked one year since our Coach Leach, the Pirate, passed away suddenly due to heart disease.

I’ve seen many lovely remembrances of him this week, not only from our school, but also throughout the SEC and all of college football, as he was such a special and dear man, and his influence was felt far and wide.

His absence has echoed through this season and we miss him something awful.

There have been many great articles written about him this week, but two in particular that I want to be sure to share here.

The first is from The Athletic, a piece with thoughts and memories from his friends:

Coach Leach The Athletic Article.

The second is a local piece from The Clarion Ledger in Mississippi and it is perfect for Coach.

Clarion Ledger Article about Coach.

Finally, I want to share my favorite montage of Coach moments assembled by That SEC Football Podcast, because goodness was he ever the most unique and funny man.

Gosh, we miss him. ❤

Swing your sword, y’all.

Be well, everybody. Take care of yourselves and each other.

Grace and Blessings.

For our Christmas song today, as it is still Blogmas, I went to double check Coach’s favorite bands and, unsurprisingly, found this:

MIKE LEACH’S FAVORITE MUSICAL ARTISTS

  1. Jimmy Buffett
  2. Neil Young
  3. Lynyrd Skynyrd
  4. Jethro Tull
  5. Bob Dylan

(and the article with this list is great too: Sailing with Coach Article. )

Sooo, for Coach – and, in memory of Jimmy Buffett as well, Jimmy’s version of Mele Kalikimaka:
