a bit more poetry to end poetry month.

As we wrap up National Poetry Month, April 28th was National Great Poetry Reading Day – which is as it sounds 😉 – and the 29th was Poem In Your Pocket Day – to encourage everyone to write their own poetry or create their own art.

Though we’ve had a few different kinds of poetry posts this month, I love them and thought we would finish April with one more for Poetry Reading Day. ❤

It’s easy to share the same beloved poems again and again – because they are wonderful – but today, I want to share ones that are new to this space, some fresh poems in our pockets. ❤

First, a Mary Oliver poem that speaks to my soul, “I Worried.”

Next, a short and sweet Thoreau.

Then, I saw this poem written for Mary Oliver when she passed away, by Amy Schmidt, and I found it so moving – and so perfectly Mary.

Next is a poem I came across by Jane Mead, called “Bach, Winter.”

Another I want to share is e.e. cummings “just tired.”

Then, Nikki Giovanni’s “Allowables.” ❤

by nikki giovanni.

And Pablo Neruda’s XVII (I do not love you. . .).

I also love this piece by Nikita Gill, “Wild Embers.”

And, finally, Wendell Berry’s “The Peace of Wild Things.”

I have loved sharing all of our poetry this month. Wishing you all the best week and happy reading as well. ❤

Be well, everybody. Take care of yourselves and each other.

Grace and Blessings.
