thank you, paris.

Last night was the Closing Ceremony of the 2024 Paris Olympics – and, here in the Hippie Hut, we’ve been watching, getting to know the athletes and cheering them on for the past couple of weeks – and I am sad to see it all end.

It truly was the best Olympics I can recall – and, as I love all things Paris anyway, it has me down a whole rabbit hole of a French project I’ll be writing about later. ❤

As it wraps up, it feels impossible to choose just a few favorite things – but I have collected some wonderful pictures from all over to share with y’all, best moments to save and remember as we close. ❤

Beach volleyball in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower. ❤
Though some questions remain about the health implications of the decision – ? – it was truly incredible to see triathletes competing in the Seine.
Snoop, y’all. ❤
This Olympics, I enjoyed the Men’s Gymnastics even more than the Women’s – and, of course, Stephen Nedoroscik – Pommel Horse Guy. ❤
Watching all of track was wonderful – and what can we say about Gabby Thomas except “wow?”
This moment between Tara Davis-Woodhall and her husband, gold medalist Hunter Woodhall – as she won her own gold – was incredible. ❤
(I cannot wait to see them again and cheer for Hunter in a couple of weeks at the Paralympics.)
A whale visiting the surfers during the semifinals in Tahiti. Breathtaking.
Leon Marchand having an incredible Olympics before his home crowd was a joy to witness.
US Women’s Soccer celebrating – and going on to gold. ❤
Julian Alfred winning Saint Lucia’s first ever medal when she took gold in the women’s 100 meter.
Noah Lyles winning the Men’s 100 meter in a photo finish.
Katie Ledecky winning the 1500 meter in her fourth Olympics. ❤
An absolutely incredible Rugby catch by the Irish women. Wow!
Cycling through the streets of Paris. ❤

Finally, one thought that has not left me, especially since watching the Men’s Gymnastics competition, is strength of the Ukrainian athletes.

They have trained in a war zone – and are returning to one.

Oleg Verniaiev of Ukraine.

Here is an article speaking with Oleg about the situation in Ukraine:

Oleg Verniaiev Ukraine Interview.

We must see that the people of Ukraine aren’t forgotten.

As for the Olympics – thank you, Paris, for a magical 2024.

(We’ll see you again in a few weeks for the Paralympics as well. ❤ )

Be well, everybody. Take care of yourselves and each other.

Grace and Blessings.
