Y’all, today I am so excited to get to share with you all my dear Cheryl Wray’s new book, Southern College Football Road Trip.
First, if you’ve been reading here for any length of time, you know that we are passionate SEC people around here – and we especially love football season.
Enter my dear friend Cheryl Wray.
For her new book, Southern College Football Road Trip, Cheryl has combined her experience as a sports writer, her love for travel, her passion as an SEC fan, and her life experience as the daughter of an SEC professor to write this wonderful guide to all things SEC football.
As she wrote this book, Cheryl visited each campus, learning about the school’s history as well as finding unique campus spots and taking in local culture.
I was blessed to tag along for her trip to see my beloved Mississippi State campus back in December of 2023. I wrote about it here:
As I’ve been reading her book this week, I have learned so much about all of our SEC schools – even ones I thought I knew most everything about.
For each school, Cheryl shares school history and town information and also talks about the school’s mascots, colors, songs, and unique gameday traditions, and as well offering detailed guides to the best local spots to visit and nifty things to do within driving distance.
Her book works both as an awesome travel guide if you are visiting one of our SEC campuses and also as a great read to learn about our schools so all of our traditions make sense as you see them on SEC Network each week.
(Haven’t we all had the “why the heck are they doing/wearing/singing THAT?” moment as we observe our opponents? 😂)
