happy feast day of the Sacred Heart of Jesus – and do better, Dodgers.

Today, June 16th, is the Solemnity of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, and all of June is the month of the Sacred Heart of Jesus, a precious devotion dear to me and many. ❤

It’s such a beautiful reminder of the unending love of Jesus for us.

There are so many beautiful prayers to His Sacred Heart. One I particularly love:

Today, also, if you have heard about the issue of the Dodgers and the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence, well, the Sisters are being honored with a “Hero Award” at Dodger Stadium -yes, on this blessed feast day.

A few side notes about this fiasco:

1. I don’t dispute that is group of people does some good things in their community. That is not the issue here.

2. I have noticed that in all of the mainstream media articles about how this group of do-gooders are being unfairly maligned by Catholics, the pictures chosen are always VERY conservative ones – and no mention is made of their more. . . questionable. . . events. Well, let’s discuss.

The Sisters are presented in the articles in USA Today and whatnot as though they are simply dressing as nuns in clownface and going about, handing out safe sex information and condoms and what-have-you. While that would be a bit over the top, that is not even CLOSE to the extent of their activities that have Catholic Christians hair on fire.

First, I share this article, simply to evidence the event the Sisters had to cancel for Covid, where they were to chose that year’s “Hunky Jesus” and “Foxiest Mary” – for Easter. As the article reported, “Hunky Jesus hopefuls were sadly setting aside their loin cloths and crowns of thorns.” Hmmm.

Also, I’m simply going to link this article as well which details their long history of mockery of the Eucharist, burning the Pope in effigy, and much more.

Of course, these people have the right to do as they please. That’s not what’s at issue either. The problem is the Dodgers giving them a HERO AWARD for their “life saving work” in the face of all of this.

Good grief.

A couple of the Dodgers players have spoken up about this:

Kershaw and Treinen Article.

It has been bothering me so much and I felt that I had to address it as well. This is not acceptable.

The Conference of Bishops has asked that everyone pray the Litany of the Sacred Heart as this is occurring tonight.

This is a reading of the Litany on EWTN’s site:

Litany to the Sacred Heart of Jesus.

Or you can follow along with Sister Emmanuel:

Despite this, wishing you all a blessed feast day of the Sacred Heart and a lovely weekend.

Be well, everybody. Take care of yourselves and each other.

Grace and Blessings.
