This past Saturday, July 22nd, was the Feast of St. Mary Magdalene.
As so often happens, your girl is a bit behind schedule – but it’s still important to observe her feast day.
(If you have the Hallow app, today starts a seven day series on her that I am super stoked about and you may want to also join in. ❤ )
In Luke 8, it is written that the women travelling with Jesus, including Mary Magdalene, financially supported the ministry. Of Mary, this passage says that from her “seven demons had gone out” so she had been released from great suffering as she came to be a follower of Jesus.
(She was not, however, a prostitute – and in 1969 the church actually had to correct that wrong assertion that had been allowed for so many centuries.)
After Jesus healed her though, she followed Him with great devotion throughout his life and was at the foot of the Cross with Mother Mary and John the Beloved.

For her devotion, she was the first to discover the empty tomb and to go report to the other apostles the Resurrection.
For this, she is known as the “apostle to the apostles.”
She is often depicted holding a red egg – and there are a few legends in the orthodox tradition linked to this and the Easter Egg that are really wonderful.

Mary Magdalene and the Red Egg Article.
Mary Magdalene is the patron saint of converts, penitents, and women.
She is an enduring symbol of the great love and mercy of our Lord.

Be well, everybody. Take care of yourselves and each other.
Grace and Blessings.
