Today’s Blogtober post is in the works – but we must also celebrate the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. ❤
Most are at least somewhat familiar with his story – and his beloved prayer – but just a very little bit about him if you aren’t. . .

St. Francis was born in Italy in 1186 into a wealthy family. As an adult, he would renounce his wealth, and travel about, preaching repentance, love, and kindness.
He would eventually gain followers and found the Franciscan order of Brothers, as well as helping found the Poor Clares, religious sisters who mirror the Brothers, and also the Secular Franciscan order who continue to live in society as they observe Franciscan thought.
These orders, of course, have had an untold impact in the world and continue to exist today, with the friars continuing to take vows of poverty, chastity, and obedience.
St. Francis would receive the stigmata during a fast in 1224 and carried it for the last two years of his life. He died at age 44 and it was said that he was singing the 141st Psalm at the time of his death.

He has many patronages but is usually most widely known for being patron saint of animals, ecology, and Italy, as well as, of course, the Franciscan order.
On his feast day – and throughout this week, many churches will have the Blessing of the Pets in his honor as well.
Also, Pope Francis is the first pope to have taken his name.
A much beloved saint, his prayer of St. Francis is known and prayed often throughout the world and seems perfect to close on. ❤

Be well, everybody. Take care of yourselves and each other.
Grace and Blessings.
