I want to talk about Amy Schumer – or, more specifically, some recent changes in her appearance.
(And nastiness on the internet – and how quickly keyboard warriors say whatever they please about a woman with no regard for common decency.)

A few weeks ago, Amy Schumer appeared on late night television promoting an upcoming season of her current television show – and, while I am not really a fan of her work, I was incredibly upset for her as a person when I saw the interwebs blowing up with comments of “what is wrong with her face?”
To a person with autoimmune disease who has dealt with long-term steroid therapy, it was immediately apparent to me that she was experiencing prednisone moon face – and, when I showed her picture to my husband, he also promptly said, “she’s taking prednisone.”
Cushing Syndrome is the diagnosis for the condition that occurs with the long-term use of high dose steroids – bringing with it moon face – and it is all too familiar here in the Hippie Hut.

Knowing how terrible this feels, I cannot imagine having to go on national television and have people say such awful things while feeling so vulnerable.
Here is the People Magazine article from just a couple of days ago about Amy’s steroid therapy and Cushing diagnosis. I truly feel for her.

Not only am I frustrated and sorry that Amy is being treated in such a nasty way for her moon face, I realize that this is no different than a similar issue I addressed a full four years ago – on February 13, 2020 – regarding Ashley Judd and HER face being dissected and bullied and picked on.
(At the time, I was extra swollen as well.)
While I understand that everyone doesn’t know what a “moon face” is just by looking, every single person can certainly refrain from saying things like “what is wrong with her face.”
Just as with all of the things that were said about Ashley Judd, the solution to this is unchanged: If you can’t say something kind, don’t say anything at all.

Be well, everybody. Take care of yourselves and each other.
Grace and Blessings.
