grieving with texas.

I was a church camp kid growing up, with some of my first camp summer memories made at a girls camp very much like Camp Mystic.

As I’ve watched all the clips that have been shared of camp memories before the flood as well as images of what remains and seen the search for these missing girls, my heart grieves so for them and their families as well as all the other victims of this devastation.

There were 27 campers and counselors lost.

Camp Mystic article.

One video that has haunted me is of the rescued girls being driven away from the area of camp on a bus, singing songs that are very particular to Christian kids camps, including one I still sing to myself almost daily when I experience anxiety.

Yes, they were still softly singing.

Bless.

I cannot imagine what these babies have endured or how this will affect them – when the day before they had been singing those songs with all their friends on a happy camp day.

Please join me in praying or holding space for the victims of this tragedy. There is so much help and healing that is needed – and searches still ongoing for victims.

Lord, have mercy.

Be well, everybody. Take care of yourselves and each other.

Grace and Blessings.
