Y’all, this story likely *really* won’t make sense to my non-Mississippi State folks – but bear with me anyway as I share the tale of last Friday’s unplanned road trip to Starkville to fetch a limited edition Egg Bowl cowbell.

See, the Egg Bowl, the huge rivalry game between State and Ole Miss, is coming up this Friday, November 28, it is our turn to host, and, as always, we are all very excited.

Well, one of my favorite shops, Maroon & Co., posted some limited edition cowbells from The Bellsmith a few weeks ago, designed just for the Egg Bowl – and they were so pretty.

Of course, there were only maybe 30 or so and they sold out fast.

Well, they announced there would be one more batch released last week before the game – and The Bellsmith was sharing the progress of the batch on his page throughout the week so I knew to expect them sometime on Friday or Saturday at the shop.

I was watching Maroon & Co.’s page like a hawk – because there were no preorders for these.

Sure enough, last Friday morning, they posted this:

Again, this batch only contained about 30 and had to be ordered online and picked up in store for the best luck in getting one.

Well. . . at about 11AM, your girl (who almost never does stuff like this anymore), hopped in Grover and hit it to Starkville.

I actually got to town with time to spare.

I was able to get lunch at Walk Ons (red beans and rice and cheese grits – so yummy) and then run into Starkville Nutrition for a tasty loaded tea while I waited.

At about 3:40 PM, I got to Maroon and Co. and started trying to get a cowbell (I had been told to refresh the page early until they opened up the bells online) and my amazing better half did the same from Birmingham until he got through just after 4PM.

Gahhhh!!!!

So. Stinking. Excited.

I went in and was able to pick up my bell (along with a bunch of other people picking up theirs) and was told they had sold out in nine minutes.

On my way out of town, I stopped at the most fantastic new consignment shop, Revolution.

It was getting dark at that time so I hopped on the highway and headed home.

I know the urgent desire for a limited edition cowbell doesn’t make sense to non-aficionados 😂 – *but* this little Bulldog is so happy and excited for gameday this week. ♥️
