this music monday: a playlist and little storytime.

Today is Music Monday and I am a bit of a stressing woman.

School is in full five alarm crazy mode – it’s that time of year πŸ˜‰ – and this is a week of doctors and whatnot and I’m just a ball of the anxieties (you know, as I usually name it, just Monday).

This calls for deep breaths and a de-stressing sort of upbeat playlist for this week, no doubt. ❀

First, though, I must share my recent ticket purchase storytime tale of woe with y’all. . .

See, Alanis Morissette is coming to our city for the first time since 1999 and I am super stoked about it as I’ve mentioned in a previous post. Well, when I went to get tickets for myself, Sara Bug, and our dear friend Ashley, there were no problems with the actual purchase..

It was what came after that was a blow to my self image. . .

Remember, when you listened to Alanis in the 1990’s and you were a young woman filled grungy rage? Well, at least I was. πŸ˜‰

Turns out Ticketmaster believes that if you are old enough to be in Alanis’s demographic, then you are in the right age group to be offered a $20 per year Sam’s Club Membership with your purchase. . .

Oh my word. That’s right. Buy Alanis tickets; get a Sam’s Club card. . .

What’s worse? Sara and I literally already had plans in place to go buy a membership last week – so though my elderly feelings were hurt – I could not turn down joining for $20 instead of the the regular $45.Β  . .Β  Thanks Alanis. πŸ™‚

Bahahaha.

stoked. ❀

All that said, there is nothing like a good playlist to calm the Monday nerves – and soothe the wounded old lady feelings. πŸ˜‰

For this week’s playlist, I’m going to link a few favorite songs and then post the entire list as usual but then I’m trying something different too. While all of my playlists are on Apple Music – because we are iPhone people, I realize those aren’t always sharable to everyone so I decided to start putting each Music Monday playlist on Spotify as well because it’s free and I can link it to share with anyone who wants to take a listen. ❀

So, let’s go with the “girl, put your records on” playlist.

First up, is the super upbeat and fun song the list is named for. This one is just joy.

Another favorite song and artist, Pat Green’s “Carry On.”

I ❀ Shakira.

This Brantley Gilbert song is still so ridiculously catchy.

I love JM’s cover of Free Fallin’.

Then, there is this because, well, first, Garth is just fabulous forever, and also because it seems that this song has appeared as the fourth quarter song at Davis Wade this season. πŸ˜‰

(Of note, this is not on the Spotify list because Garth isn’t on streaming services and the cover versions there are less than desirable.)

Finally, of course, the Grateful Dead. ❀

Here is the entire list:
