hospital stays and recovery days.

Y’all, it turns out that my previous post – when I reported that I was back from my nasty health breakdown – was more than a bit premature.

As it turned out, I was actually still headed downhill at that time and would find myself back in the emergency room again shortly thereafter – but this time I wouldn’t be leaving.

With some unbelievable dizziness as well as nausea, vomiting, and really low blood pressure, I was found to have low potassium, sodium, and magnesium as well as “acute kidney injury” – gnarly kidney labs due to dehydration – and was admitted, expecting to stay a day or so.

From there, it actually took several days to get my labs and orthostatic hypotension under control – and there was still the problem of my unexplained nausea and vomiting so I was scheduled for an EGD before I could be sent home.

hospital views.

There is no pleasant way to explain this. It had been well over 24 hours since I had even tried to eat anything when I went for the test – and, as soon as they put me under and started scoping me, I was vomiting up old food that I’m not digesting.

I have gastroparesis.

I already have nerve problems with diabetes and also the severe nerve issues of CRPS, so it makes sense – but oh my word.

This is a big adjustment.

that soup life.

At least we do understand more and can make plans – and were able to adjust meds and get me patched up to come home to my people and puppies.

I am also still absolutely wiped; it was a long stay – but I am mending.

Home is certainly the best place to be. 💜
