a spoonie surviving the hurricane (and it was two hours away when it came through)

Yesterday morning, I woke up with some gnarly pain – which I expected with the absolutely terrifying hurricane coming into the coast:

I live in the Birmingham area, so we saw some rain, and then the hurricane passed a couple of hours away in Georgia this evening.

Sara and I worked to get what we needed to done fairly early but this afternoon I needed to run by my doctor’s office for some labwork and pick up a couple of things for dinner. We did that around 4 PM, and, by the time I got home, I was in such severe pain with my left foot and right hip, leg, and knee, that I could barely walk. It was horrible.

On a happy note, I did spot this from my tomato planting the other day when I was coming through the kitchen:

I tried everything I knew, including extra prednisone, without success, to get my pain under control. Finally, Henry and I just had to go to bed.

We slept from 6:30 PM to 11:30 PM.

When I woke up, I was still in pain – and so hungry from the extra pred.

I got up and made the Veggie Beef Soup Sara and I had planned to have for dinner with her help. It is super simple and quick and cozy:

Then, since she is on Fall Break, we settled in and started American Horror Story: Coven, though I am not a horror person. I’m told this season has witches, New Orleans, Stevie Nicks, and Marie Laveau, and so I will dig it. So far this is all 100 percent correct. =D

Henry the Wonderpup chaperoned us:

Now Sara’s gone off to bed and I’ve taken my methotrexate shot (yuck).

It’s time to get some more rest I say as my pains have pains.

Today will be a day of resting, reading, studying, cooking (I hope – if my pain level can tolerate it), and more AHS. Hopefully I can fully recover from the hurricane. I hope you are all faring well also.

Be well, everybody.

Grace and Blessings.
