Is it the face of a child
Is the thrill of danger
Is it the kindness we see in the eyes of a stranger
Is it more than faith
Is it more than hope
Is it waiting for us at the end of our rope
I say it’s love
I say it’s love
Is it the one you call home
Is it the Holy Land
Is it standing right here holding your hand
Is it just like the movies
Is it rice and white lace
Is it the feeling I get when I wake to your face
I say it’s love
I say it’s love
Is it the first summer storm
Is it the colors of fall
Is it having so little
And yet having it all
Is it one in a million
Is it a chance to belong
Is it standing right here singing this song
I say it’s love
I say it’s love
Is it a veil or a cross
Is it the poet’s gift
Is it the face that has launched over thousands of ships
Is it making you laugh
Is it letting you cry
Is it where we believe that we go when we die
Is it how you were made
Is it your mother’s ghost
Is it the wish that I’m wishing for your life, for your life, for your life the most.
— Love, Sugarland. 2008
Yesterday, my amazing husband brought these back home for me even before he went to work. . .
Flowers are my favorite. ❤
Then, in the midst of a very busy day, he checked in on us and sorted things out for me and our girls throughout the day.
And on his way home?
He stopped for the eight million veggies and the gluten free pasta that Sara and I needed for the pasta primavera we were craving.
He is constantly working for, and taking care, of me and our family.
When we watch my favorite show, Hometown, I love to see the total restoration – and I’m always amazed because I realize that he did all of that to our home, both levels, from floor to ceiling – by himself. When new nurses or anyone else comes to visit for the first time, they always just fall in love with all of the wonderful handcrafted things – and are just blown away when I tell them that he made them all himself for us.
He is my best friend and makes me laugh like no one else can. Date nights just hanging out watching movies and talking are my very favorite.
He’s also my rock in all of this craziness that we are dealing with my health – and goodness knows it has been A LOT. When my body gets too painful and I’m so afraid, he’s always there.
He’s my protector when this world is too scary – and sometimes just when I watch too much true crime late at night and scare the besneezus out of myself. 😉
He’s my biggest fan and encourages me to push on and keep dreaming and writing and getting my book done and taking the classes I love.
He loves our girls and our wonderpup and the world’s largest grey feline to the stars and back. He’s always thinking of them and what they might need.
So, with Father’s Day this weekend and our anniversary not too far off, I just wanted to take a minute to say just how grateful I am for my husband.
I am so thankful for you, baby, and that I get to do life with you.
I love you to the moon and back. ❤
I am a blessed and lucky woman indeed.
Be well, everybody. Take care of yourselves and each other.
Grace and Blessings.
