Hey, everybody. As happens so often, I’m bringing it in a little late for fighting words friday because my school schedule is crazy busy, our Henry has been sick, and this week has really been a long month. . .

With so much going on – sickness and stressing and flares and time crunches and just all the life things – I felt that these verses are just the right ones for this week:
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:6-7 (NKJV)
These are such comforting verses to commit to memory and hold close to our hearts. Isaiah 55:11 says that God’s Word will not return to Him void but will accomplish His purposes so we can trust His promises in scripture and rest in them – even the most anxious among us. . . mostly named Miranda. . . 😉
Seriously, it is not easy to lay down our anxiety and weeks like this I really struggle.
I would be remiss if I did not also remind everyone to be in prayer daily for the people of Turkey and Syria. I have just written for class about the devastation they are experiencing and – as I look at the images – I cannot wrap my head around this.
Over 22000 killed.
Tens and tens of thousands injured.
Untold numbers of children orphaned and people homeless.
The scale of this is surreal.

If ever there was a time to lean into prayer and our faith, it is now.
Be well, everybody. Take care of yourselves and each other.
Grace and Blessings.
P.S. I usually post a contemporary worship song at the end of Fighting Words Friday – but this week’s song is a little different.
Our neighbor passed away last week and he was just a dear man who lived a full and wonderful life. At his funeral, one of his church members sang his favorite hymn, one I’ve known since I was a child but haven’t heard in many years, and I don’t think I know anyone else who calls it their favorite.
It made my heart smile that it was his – it suits his sweet spirit – so this week we have “Heavenly Sunlight” for our song. ❤
