our first fighting words friday of 2023 – deuteronomy 31:8

This year I am committed to having our fighting words Friday – with a different scripture to meditate on – each week.

(We all know what finals week looks like in these parts – so those weeks may just be a “hello,” our scripture, an “I love y’all,” and a “send help” 🙂 – but I’ll be here.)

Today is hectic so this is a short visit and I’ll be back later tonight.

This week we’ve had the flare bear visit me:

the flare bear lupie rash in full bloom at the doctor’s office.

Yesterday I had to go in for injections and I am just exhausted and still on the mend.

What’s worse though is that Mickodemus, our twelve year old feline – the OG of our fur babies – got sick over Christmas and has spent the past five days at the vet. He has been diagnosed with diabetes – like Henry (!!!) – and they have been adjusting his insulin. Treating cats is a bit different so this is going to be a learning experience.

I am so ready for him to get to come home this afternoon. We miss him so so much. ❤

We visited him yesterday.
So handsome – even though he was so ready to come home. Bless my buddy.
our baby boy. ❤

All that said, I am on the run now – and will write more tonight once everyone is properly back home where they belong ❤ – but I wanted to share our first fighting words Friday of 2023:

The LORD himself goes before you and will be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. – Deuteronomy 31:8 (NIV)

This is one of my favorite Scriptures, so dear to my heart, an encouragement in times of anxiety, wonderfully comforting.

It just feels like the right choice to offer up going into a new year.

Be well, everybody. Take care of yourselves and each other.

Grace and Blessings.
